Why does a swap quote show a time range instead of an exact arrival time
A swap quote shows a time range because no one can guarantee exactly when a blockchain will confirm a transaction. The range reflects the fastest possible outcome and the realistic worst case, based on network conditions at that moment.

Status: waiting for your deposit
You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.
The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. chengshionsol.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.
Blockchains do not move at clock speed. They move at block speed. A block is a batch of transactions that a miner or validator adds to the chain. Bitcoin targets one block every ten minutes, Ethereum around every twelve seconds, but neither number is fixed. A block can arrive in eleven seconds or in thirty. Over a weekend, when fewer people are mining, blocks can be slower. The time range accounts for that natural variance.
The lower end of the range assumes everything goes well. The network is not congested, your transaction fee is competitive, and the next block arrives promptly. The upper end assumes the opposite: the network is busy, your fee is only average, and a few blocks take longer than expected. The exchanger cannot know which scenario will play out, so it gives you both.
Another reason is the number of confirmations required. Different blockchains define "settled" differently. For Bitcoin, most services wait for three confirmations - three blocks built on top of yours. That is roughly thirty minutes in ideal conditions, but could stretch past an hour. For Ethereum, twelve confirmations is common, which is usually under three minutes but can double if the network slows. The quote includes the time needed to reach that confirmation count, not just to get the first inclusion.
The range also includes the time the exchanger needs to detect your deposit, check it against the requested amount, and send the outgoing transaction. That internal processing is measured in seconds, not hours, but the quote folds it in because it is part of the total wait.
If you are reading this page, you probably have a swap that is taking longer than expected. The hub page, "Why your swap is still pending and what actually speeds it up," goes through the specific reasons a swap stalls and what you can do about it. The time range on the quote was an honest estimate. What happens after you send the deposit is where problems can arise.
A time range is not a guess. It is a calculation based on recent block times and current mempool congestion. The exchanger updates it periodically, so if you see a wide range - say, five to forty minutes - it means conditions are unstable. A narrow range, like two to six minutes, means the network is quiet and your fee is adequate.
Do not confuse the range with a guarantee. It is a forecast, not a promise. If the network suddenly gets busy after you deposit, the actual time can exceed the upper bound. That is uncommon but possible, and it is why the page you should read next exists.
